Champagne and Sparkling Wines

PROSECCO Cuvée 18   Riondo
A change of name here - it used to be called Spago Nero. Full of character. Excellent value.

  £9.95

CAVA  GRAN GESTA
Brilliant value fizz from Spain. Made in the same way as champagne.
Definitely recommended.

IRRÉSISTIBLE Méthode Ancestrale  Domaine des Marrans
This is a sort of fizzy Beaujolais - 100% Gamay, pink, slightly sweet, low in alcohol. You might not find this description alluring. I wouldn't - but, against all the odds, this wine is delicious, with the edge from short skin contact providing a counterbalance to the sweetness. In the wine bars of London, and among hipsters, natural wine and pét-nat are all the rage. For those of you who keep up with the modern world, this is an example of a pét-nat wine.

CRÉMANT DE BOURGOGNE    Gachot-Monot
Anything from Gachot-Monot is wonderful (you will find the rest of their wines in the Burgundy pages). This is made from a blend of black grapes, Pinot Noir and Gamay, and is an excellent substitute for champagne.

  £23.50

GUY DE FOREZ Brut
Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, this comes from the village of Les Riceys, where they specialise in growing Pinot Noir. High quality, delicious champagne, with a full flavour.

MAGNUMS available @ £60.00

GUY DE FOREZ Millésimé 2018
I buy Guy de Forez's vintage champagne in years when I think they have produced an outstanding wine.

LOUIS ROEDERER Collection 244
Top quality champagne from a family-owned house. LR have rethought their non-vintage blend, Brut Premier, and now call it a multi-vintage blend. It is a noticeable improvement on what was anyway a very fine champagne. The first blend was Collection 241 - now on 244 for bottles and 243 for half bottles.
HALF BOTTLES (Collection 243) available @ £25.50
